Caño Hondo Eco-Lodge is a magic, peaceful and original place where to stay. This natural and authentic hotel is located in famous Los Haitises National Park in Sabana de la Mar. All  rooms has a positive energy with beautiful view to San Lorenzo Bay and the Samana mountains.

The space

Apart from this hotel’s stunning architecture and exceptional service you can also enjoy numerous amenities from natural swimming pools, to amazing food to outdoor activities and excursions.                                                                                                                                                                                    You can enjoy picnic area or nighttime bonfire under a blanket of stars…no light pollution just a dark night sky and the sounds of a tropical forest alive.

Each of the lodge’s 28 rooms are named after birds that can be found in the park (there are some 110 species in Los Haitises).

Caño Hondo is located about 20 minutes outside of town (Sabana de la Mar). Because of the lodge’s remote location, the best way to arrive is via private vehicle or taxi.

The hotel’s menu tells quirky tales of indigenous words and fabled stories of the area. It also highlights the regions typical dishes like crab, conch and minuta, a small fresh water fish that is enjoyed, locally, seasoned and fried. Fresh natural fruit juices are rotated daily: lime, melon, mango, tamarind, pineapple, etc.

National park Los Haitises

This vibrant humid forest is home to certain species that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, along with miles of untouched mangrove forests, secluded beaches, ancient caves and the Dominican Republic’s most diverse collection of endemic flora and fauna. What was once a sacred, safe haven for the Dominican Republic’s original inhabitants, the Taino Indians, is now a mysterious and awe-inspiring draw for those willing to leave the beaten track.
